The Necronomicon Tradition

The Necronomicon Tradition is a phrase that is often used to describe the culture and ethics of spiritualists who are initiated practitioners of the Necronomicon by Simon. Although this phrase was invented by Warlock Asylum (Messiah’el Bey), it has also been adopted by individuals and groups outside of the Ninzuwu community. The Silent Dragon, Mardukite Zuism, and Magickology are all examples of other esoteric communities that are associated with this term and have utilized such in order to express their understanding of Necronomicon esotericism and gnosis.

Origin of Phrase “Necronomicon Tradition”

During the year 2010, Jason King and Warlock Asylum had a debate about the Simon Necronomicon that was hosted by a podcast called The Ooze. During the event, Jason King used the word tradition when comparing the Simon Necronomicon to other spiritual paths. Upon hearing the word used in this manner by Jason King, Warlock Asylum would later think of cojoining the words necronomicon with tradition in order to give due value to this form of spirituality.

Intent Behind The Phrase

Like Rosicrucianism, Warlock Asylum observed that the Necronomicon by Simon is similar to the Primordial Tradition that originates in perennial philosophy, which is described as “a perspective in philosophy and spirituality that views all of the world’s religious traditions as sharing a single, metaphysical truth or origin from which all esoteric and exoteric knowledge and doctrine has grown.” This is evident in the various deities and intelligences that are found in the Necronomicon by Simon that are not of Mesopotamian origin, but in many cases Indian and Oriental, such as Agni (AGNIBAAL), Tara (TARRA), and etc. many of the composite words that appear as “blasphemous words” are actually names of deities that were grouped together to appear as a single word.

Therefore, the Necronomicon Tradition includes a broad spectrum of deities and supernatural forces, wheren the underlyning current is found in Chaldean Alchemy. Practitioners who adhere to the Chaldean Covenant and describe themselves as part of the Tradition understand that the initiatory practice of gate-walking alone does not mean that a person is a part of the Necronomicon Tradition. Thus, we find that the Necronomicon by Simon has its roots in perennial philosophy as far as its approach to the arcane faith, and in doing so constitutes itself as a tradition.
